The match is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 2 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
Due to security concerns, India’s decision not to travel to Pakistan changed plans for the 50-over tournament.
Instead of the initially intended single-host format, a hybrid design was adopted. Therefore, Team India will play all their matches in Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup 2023.
Following their opener against Pakistan, the Indian cricket team, known as the Men in Blue, will be facing Nepal, the other team from Group A, at the same venue in Kandy on September 4th.
If Rohit Sharma’s team qualifies for the next round, known as the Super 4, they will play their remaining matches at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Even if India finishes as the top team in Group A, they will still be designated as A2. However, if Pakistan qualifies, they will take the A1 spot.
If Nepal prepares from the group, they will take the spot of either India or Pakistan, depending on their position in the table.
In the upcoming Super 4, India will again go head-to-head against their arch-rivals, Pakistan, on September 10th, game limbo.
The match will occur between the two teams that qualify from Group B, including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.
The outcome of this situation is contingent upon their advancement from the initial round. If Sri Lanka and Bangladesh advance to the Super 4 stage, regardless of their final positions in Group B, Sri Lanka will be designated B1, and Bangladesh will be designated B2.
If Afghanistan outperforms them, they will replace the current worst-performing team in the group.
Here is the schedule for Team India in the Asia Cup 2023, including a complete list of fixtures, dates, and venues. The first-round matches have been determined, but the remaining games will be confirmed as the tournament progresses.
