Rishabh Pant To Remain Captain Of Delhi Capitals!

Delhi Capitals reported on Thursday that wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant will keep on being the captain of the side in the second half of the India Premier League (IPL) 2021. Regardless of the accessibility of regular captain Shreyas Iyer, under whom Delhi reached the IPL Final last in 2020, the franchise has ruled against making a captaincy change.

“JSW-GMR co-own Delhi Capitals today announced that Rishabh Pant will proceed as captain for the rest of the 2021 period of the Indian Premier League”.

Pant was appointed captain of DC before the IPL 202 after Iyer was ruled out of the tournament due to a left shoulder injury sustained during the first One Day series against England in March this year, which required surgery followed by a lengthy rehabilitation..

Under Pant, Delhi were the best Team in the 1st half of the IPL 2021. With 6 wins and 2 losses, Delhi are currently at the top position of the point table with 12 points from eight matches.

But the postponement of the IPL 2021 to the 2nd wave of COVID-19 meant that Iyer got the time and space to make a recovery from the injury. The 2nd half of IPL in the UAE, starting from Sunday, will mark Iyer’s return to competitive cricket after a gap of 6 months.
